The Little Things

A few months ago I went outside and sat on our porch. I had a book with me, but I didn't open it. Why? I realized that I needed to do a couple of things.
Stop- My life is, well, crazy. I have three siblings, I play lots of sports, and i'm juggling multiple WIP. So sometimes it's good to just stop.
Breathe- Take a deep breath and give it to God. He's got it. You know that feeling that there's tons of things weighing on your mind, but you can't quite make out which one is which, and they're starting to make you anxious? Pray. I like to write down every single thing that is worrying me, big or small, and pray about it. You can just feel the burden of anxiety lifted off your shoulder's by Jesus' gentle hands.
3. Take a minute- We will never know how many things we miss in our hurried, busy lives. While I was sitting outside, I just closed my eyes and drank in the stillness. The birds chirping from the trees. The sound of the wind in the leaves. The scurry of creatures. You open your eyes, and you're met by a whole new world. When I just took a minute and sat there, I noticed the little lizard scampering across the porch, the birds talking to each other, the sudden beauty of an opened flower. Our rushed lives make us forget that there's more to life than calenders and meetings and homework. The little things that God created just for our enjoyment are right there, waiting for us. So the next time that you have a little time, just go sit for a minute. Drink in the goodness of God and all His creation, and know that life doesn't have to be chaotic.
